Miles Davis played custom made Martin Committee trumpets.

MILESTONE
In 1814 Francis Scott Key wrote ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ after witnessing the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Maryland.

WHAT’S NEW
Alt roots band The Audreys have been hard at work in the studio with Shane O’Mara recording their third album, ‘Sometimes The Stars’. The band has whittled themselves down to the core song writing duo of Taasha Coates and Tristan Goodall with a number of musicians joining them on the album and the road. The album will be in stores in October.

MISSED HITS
A year before Tom Jones recorded ‘Green Green Grass of Home’ Red West heard it on a Jerry Lee Lewis album and brought the song to Elvis Presley’s attention and was told it was too country for Elvis.

IT AIN’T NECCESSARILY SO
She sang ‘Stand by Your Man’, but Tammy Wynette was five times married.

QUOTE UNQUOTE
In 1983 Keith Richards speculated: “I could have done with being one of Elvis' original band, being one of the Crickets, being one of the Blue Cats. I could've used being in Little Richard's band in the '50s, a million others. I would've loved to have been in Muddy's band in the early '50s. Would've loved to be in Louis Armstrong's band in the '20s. I mean, I can go back further than that.”

JONATHAN MOFFETT BRISBANE CLINIC WRAP-UP

Jonathan Moffett Clinic
Princess Theatre
4 October 2010

Last night saw a crowd of 250 including special guests attend the Princess Theatre to see a drumming and performance spectacular in the hands of Jonathan "Sugarfoot" Moffett.

It was a relentless performance of power, technique, passion and musicality. The crowd was treated to several performances of Michael Jackson tracks along with a backdrop of slides from Jonathan’s 30 year career with Michael.

It was evident from the get go that there was an amazing atmosphere in the room. With only standing room available, the venue was perfect for such an up close an personal evening with a legend.

Towards the end of the evening Jonathan treated us all to a 10 minute solo in his home town New Orleans style. This was an incredible display of power, technique and stamina and it brought the house down.

Following this he completed the performance with 2 more classic MJ tracks.

Jonathan left the stage to a standing ovation followed by which the crowd was allowed to get on stage and have a close up look at the massive 3 kick drum kit he played.

Jonathan then stayed and signed autographs until midnight, giving each and every individual their moment for a photo and a quick chat.

Smiles everywhere, great sound and a great show….AWESOME!
