Are the same ill informed, unknowledgable posuer staff from Allans now going to be working in Billy Hyde stores?

This is what set Billy Hyde apart from Allans, that is why I went there. Allans is just the "Kmart" of music stores.

I believe staff will be remaining in their current stores unless they choose to transfer.

Mergers are almost always inevitably a bad thing in our small country:
- Less competition
- Less diversity
- Fewer stores (this will come when economics are worked out...)
- Less opportunity.
Don't take it out on the store staff - it would be out of their hands.

In what possible way can this improve competition in the world of instrument retail. I'm sorry but how does this result in a better deal for me? Even if the customer service is terrible i can't just go to the competitor anymore - everything has been locked down. How do i know i'm getting a good price?

Currently Billy Hydes gear is way overpriced, Allans almost as bad. Have only ever bought gear at Allans when on (genuine) sale.

Looks like more business for online stores/ebay.

How will the pricing policy be affected by this merger?
Billy Hyde has always offered reasonable prices, and I have spent many thousands of dollars with them in the past. On the other hand, Allans has always been a bit expensive, and so I have never purchased from them. I had intended to continue buying from Billy Hyde in the future, so I hope that this "merger" is more an expansion of the Billy Hyde ethos.

What a shame Allans hasn't used the wider network of stores to bring prices down. Why is allans always so expensive? You can't keep bleeding musicians an extra $300 - $1000 per instrument for the kind of service you provide. It's getting to the point I almost don't even bother to check allans price - it will always be the highest.
