We Don’t Match Prices from GlobalSound

The Foundation of Globalsound is in New Zealand where Music retailers and customers are familiar with parallel importing websites, including www.musicthingz.com and www.nzsounds.co.nz which claim to offer the lowest prices on brand name musical instruments and equipment. This operation has ventured into Australia with www.globalsound.com.au

However, a significant number of customers have been misled, and in June 2011, a NZ Current Affairs program called 'Fair Go' conducted an investigation into his trading practices. They interviewed customers that ordered and paid for goods, but never received them. You can see the TV show here.

A quick Google search reveals a number of blogs where people have been 'ripped off' by Music Thingz (eg http://rippedoffbymusicthingz.blogspot.com) and it appears Music Thingz and GlobalSound no longer trade on eBay, with their last transaction dating back to February.

GlobalSound don't carry spare parts, cannot give a warranty and provide no service or support, due to the fact that it is not an authorised dealer in numbers of the products it claims to stock.

Furthermore, both GlobalSound and Music Thingz have been accused of not having stock of many of their advertised lines. In these cases, the customer places an order and pays for the stock, then GlobalSound / Music Thingz start the process of sourcing the stock from overseas - and this has led to lengthy delays or no stock arriving at all.

Customers are advised to carefully weigh up potential savings with the associated risks and buy from an authorised music retailer.
